POSTCARDS ALONG THE WAY. . . FROM A SCRIBBLING TRAVELER

I have written a travel book. It's called  Postcards Along the Way (Notes from a Scribbling Traveler). You can take a look at it on the right side. My book is a collection of 26 lighthearted essays/stories featuring curious situations and slice-of-life occurrences I've stumbled upon while traveling throughout the world. This is not a guide book. It is a book that highlights everyday people, funny situations, and a not-so-serious look at the world, but at the same time respectful of its citizens.

For nineteen years I have written postcards to myself in the form of pages in my travel journals. I have pages and pages of personal scribbles describing where I've been, what I've seen, whom I've met, what I've had to eat, what unusual things happened, what things I really enjoyed, what I had to eat (oh, I already said that didn't I) and whatever else  came to mind that I thought I would like to remember, especially wine selections. I wrote on trains, planes, ships, river boats, motor coaches, city buses, metros, land taxis, water taxis, ferries, park benches, and while truckin' along on foot. I just kept writing and writing and writing some more as I traveled along the way.

One day, I decided to take all these scribbles and compile them into a book, which resulted in Postcards Along the Way. I chose to write about those things that landed center stage in my mind, what I considered special occasions, like people I met. Not every place I have visited is in this book, but there are plenty of places in the contents to choose from.

As I have always said, the travel bug bit me and I hope it never heals. I hope you will give my book a read and find it entertaining and inspiring enough to lead you to faraway places, or maybe your own backyard. You might be surprised by what you find there.
